Motors For Model Train Meet Demanding Requirements
Building an N-gauge (1:160) model train system involves working with very small units. The 1930s-inspired BR 70 locomotive from Fleischmann is only about 58 mm long when measured buffer to buffer. As on large locomotives, traction (and on the model, power transmission) between the wheel and the track is a crucial factor. To give the unit appropriately scaled big-train power with low vibration and noise, the folks at Fleischmann turned to customized DC motors from the FAULHABER Group.

New economical digital force gauges
Mark-10 introduces their Series 2 digital force gauges, designed for basic tension and compression force testing in quality control, manufacturing, and R&D areas in virtually every industry. A range of capacities from 2 lb to 100 lb (10 N to 500 N) is available to address numerous applications. Accuracy is better than +/-0.5 percent of full scale, and overload protection is provided to 150 percent of capacity. The force gauges feature a sampling rate of 500 Hz, large, backlit graphic display, and simple, intuitive menu structure for quick access to features and configurable parameters.
